Jack Tone Ranch
News and Fun
Happenings:
A Jack Tone Ranch scene....the Old Barn roof. Gerard Hammer (assisted by sons Robert & Gerard and a family friend) painted the roof in the Tone family tradition, to celebrate California's Sesquicentennial -- and the Jack Tone Ranch's as well -- last year for 150th Anniversary celebration. In 1976, Jack Tone painted the Old Barn roof with the American flag for America's bicentennial. Bud's (Jack Tone's) grandfather, Patrick Talbot, started the tradition in 1876 with the American flag for the American centennial. |

July 2003 Fadjurs Si-Si (Fadjur x Saki), age 27, produced a perfect grey colt by Fadjurs Prize (Fadjur x Marjianazemtu)! This is a very beautiful and correct colt, and what a gift, to have another great foal from Fadjurs Si-Si! Fadjurs Si-Si is the last of her line, the youngest and only surviving foal of Fadjur and Saki. She looks like a teenager, and foaled this beautiful colt easily.
June 28, 2003 Our Historic Jack Tone Ranch 154th Anniversary Celebration was a HUGE success, and more fun than a barrel of monkeys! We were joined by an exceptionally happy & friendly crowd of over 200 new friends. it was so much fun, we'll be doing this again! It was a change in format from our 38 previous annual Open Barn and Horse management Clinics, and WOW! was it fun!
June 20 - 22, 2003 Our first Ron McLoughlin Horse Handling Clinic for 2003 was great! A small, but outstanding group of new and seasoned McLoughlin students joined together for some breakthroughs in horsemanship.
June 2003 Bint Fad-Dani (Fad-Dani x Fad a-Flame) foaled a giant, beautiful bay colt by Fadjurs Prize. He is an athlete, through and through, and has an incredibly beautiful head & fun-loving nature. 27 year old orphan (she's the last of her line) Fadjurs Si-Si (Fadjur x Saki) is due to foal at the end of July.
April 2003 Fadjurs Celeste (Fadjur x Fadjurs Si-Si) foaled an outstanding bay colt with a big star and the most extreme head, after carrying him for almost a full year! and Fadjurs Marcella (Fadjur x Bint Mehanazem) foaled a magnificent bay filly a week later. She also has an extreme head, and one of the longest, best hips we've seen on any foal. Photos coming soon . . . Meanwhile, all ideas for special names are welcomed! We like to use Fadjur, Fad, Jur, etc. in the foals' names to identify their heritage, something remiscent of their dams' names, and we usually put a "Z" somewhere in the name to signify Fadjurs Prize's family (the Z traces to Mehanazem & Farzem, several generations back).
February 2003 "Blessed are the Broodmares" . . . . The first foal born in 2003 at Jack Tone Ranch has arrived! Born 2/12/03, Fadjurz Knight (Fadjurs Prize x SS Nightengale) will be a dark seal bay (or maybe black?) beauty! New photos below were taken at age 3 weeks, as SS Nightengale and Fadjurz Knight ventured out to the pasture. He is bred to be a big action horse, as well as sweet and beautiful breeding stallion. Bloodlines include 5x Fadjur + 2x Bask (Ariston & Gdansk) + dam line to Mehanazem via Fadanazem's family. Fadjurz Knight is available for sale at Jack Tone Ranch.
June, July, September and November 2003 Our Ron McLoughlin Horse Handling Clinics are scheduled for 2003 and we hope you'll find a way to join us this year! Sunday, July 21,2002 Whisper Fadjur (HLT Murmullo x Fadjurs Lady Anne) foaled her first beautiful foal! He's a spectacular bay, he has a perfect head with a perfect star and his own special "Look of Fadjur." Whisper is a wonderful mother and we're expecting many great things from her with her new owners, Joe & Sue. Congratulations!
July 12-14, 2002 Kathleen judged a horse show in Ohio. She met many wonderful people and beautiful horses!
Sunday, June 9,2002 Kathleen judged the Hunter Pleasure classes at the 7th annual Pacific Coast Arabian Sporthorse Classic at Rancho Murieta. A beautifully run show; many exceptional horses were presented.
Sunday, May 26 2002 (Memorial Day weekend) Our
47th Annual Horse Management Seminar and Open Barn was wonderful....every year, Marge (Tone) says, "This was the best ever!" and raves over the beautiful horses, the nice people, all the fun. Everyone I spoke with was in agreement with Marge, so we'll just call it a Great Day. This date worked out well for most, so we'll try it again next year. Mark your calendars!
Demonstrations included: Erline Richburg, Bill Henley and Sharol Terrill, independent Wellness Consultants for Nikken, who taught us about magnets and infrared light Wellness technologies for horse & rider. Bill Henley, a horseman and farrier for 45 years, demonstrated techniques for finding our horses' problem areas and aiding the healing process (with *very* willing accomplices, Fadjurz Victor and Fadjurs Dancer). Andre Bourlet demonstrated some of his maneuvers to rhythmic music, riding the Jack Tone Ranch stallions, Fadjurs Prize, Fadjurz New York, Fadjurz Valiant and Fadjurz Dani. Everyone's favorite clinic event over the years has been the Parade of Champions, and this year was no different. The Jack Tone Ranch presents many of our favorite horses, all descendants of the Fabulous FADJUR . . . something for everyone who loves beautiful horses!
May 17, 18, 19, 2002 Ron McLoughlin Horse Handling Clinic -- YEE HAW! 3 great days of horse handling fun. Ron's emphasis on "classical stock seat" riding is very strongly in harmony with classical dressage riding -- except he emphasizes harmony and control "from as slow as a horse can go to as fast as a horse can go" (and everything in between!). An excellent clinic. Many eyes were opened to a new way of looking at horsemanship, and just how great it really can be. Contact Margie or Kathleen for more info or to sign up for next time (October). You can learn more about Ron McLoughlin's wonderful philosophy and techniques at here at the virtual Jack Tone Ranch (sign-up sheet is here too) and on his website http://www.mcloughlinhorsehandling.com.
April 2002 We have been blessed with the arrival of 2 magnificent foals so far! The day before Easter, Fadjurs Marcella (Fadjur x Bint Mehanazem) produced a bay colt by Fadjurs Prize (Fadjur x Suranazem) who can be described as no less than "IDEAL." We're thinking that might have to be his name! He is truly a special colt, in type, conformation, disposition (he LOVES people), presence....he has it all. And just this morning (4/22/02) Star of Fadjur (Fadjurs Prize x Fadjurs Fern) produced her first foal, sired by Sundance Kid V for her owner, Sheila Leveritt: an incredibly beautiful black filly, with perfect little short stockings, awesome body, long neck and beautiful head. This beautiful filly is the epitome of what you would expect from all the best of her breeding.
January 2 The Modesto Bee featured a wonderful story about the Jack Tone Road -- longest straight road in the county of San Joaquin -- as well as some history about John H. Tone and the Tone family. Ken Carlson did a great job researching and writing the story, and Ted Benson took a great photograph of Marge & Jack Tone in front of the old Tone home (owned now by 5th & 6th generations Tones, the Morrisseys) to illustrate the article. The article is on-line, for your reading pleasure: "Long, straight road has 150 years of comin's, goin's." UPDATE: The article was re-printed with some different photos in the Sacramento Bee on March 30!
Please join us in praying for the thousands of innocent Americans and friends who were murdered in New York, Washington DC & and Florida; for their friends and families who must live with their terrible loss; for all of the American people who have been attacked as a nation. Please also join us in praying for wisdom, clarity, and guidance from above for our American leaders. And please also pray for the attackers, that God's love will find it's way into their black, evil hearts.
April 6, 7, 8 2002 Our Equestrian Mimes Clinic with Andre Bourlet was just as fulfilling and harmonious as we expected. Finally.....the mystery of the half-halt was revealed! Why are the simplest things so difficult? Andre has a gift for making the simplest things.....simple. Andre's wonderful method of describing, understanding (and teaching) how horses move by teaching the riders to mimick the horse's movements on the ground, is becoming renowned world-wide. It is illuminating to observe every move Andre makes, as even the most sensitive and athletic horses seem to understand him and enjoy working with him. You should see the "smiles" and contented expressions of Fadjurz New York, Fadjurz Valiant and Fadjurz Dani while Andre rides them. It's a breathtaking sight to see..... Contact Margie or Kathleen for more info about future clinics, or visit Andre's website AndreBourlet.com.
April 6, 7, 8 2002 Our own Kathleen was honored to be selected to participate in the Arabian Horse Registry of America's Purebred Arabian Horse Conference in Chicago. She did her best to represent all of us in America who love our horses and the Arabian breed, and to provide leadership & insights into what we believe is best for our Proud Breed's future.
March 15 - 17 2002 Kathleen participated in the semi-annual Judge's Seminar, to keep her judging license current. Kathleen reports very good attitudes & correct interpretations of the rules in the issues taught at this year's seminar -- some years have been very disappointing, so we're hopeful this will be the leading edge of a positive movement in the show-ring. The discussions about "Arabian type" were excellent, and although she heard about some heated discussion about "balding" in some of the other groups' discussions, it was nothing but good news in hers (the judges are separated into groups with a rotating schedule for each seminar topic).
March 1, 2, 3, 2002 Our first Ron McLoughlin Horse Handling Clinic for 2002 was FABULOUS! A wonderful, education-filled 3 days of horse handling fun. Ron focused this clinic mostly upon the rider's correct position, and teaching us how we affect our horse's movement & ability to perform with our correct (or not-so) equitation. Not like the equitation classes of my youth, but like the equitation of the greats of the legendary Spanish Riding School. (Contact Margie or Kathleen for more info or to sign up for next time (May 17 - 19). You can learn more about Ron McLoughlin's wonderful philosophy and techniques at here at the virtual Jack Tone Ranch (sign-up sheet is here too) and on his website http://www.mcloughlinhorsehandling.com.
Feb 2002 A SUPER HUGE CONGRATULATIONS!!! to Barry & Becky Leimkuehler for Barry's Scottsdale Top 10 with Alada Fad N Fame (Alada Baskin x Fadjurska PF--Fame VF x our own double Fadjur & Saki, Fadjurs Beauty) in the AOTH Colts of 2000. Woo Hoo! Great job, Barry & Fad! January 1, 2002 We hope you all had a very Happy New Year!!! and we wish you all the best for 2002.
December 25 We hope you had a very Merry Christmas. The Tone family celebration was a very joyous event, with a huge family gathering (22 adults & 10 kids!) and *so* much great food. We had a wonderful time enjoying each other's good company and good cheer, and we hope your holidays were just as bright.
November 12 2001 Happy Veteran's Day to one and all, and a special thank you to the veterans of the USA, protectors of freedom and democracy.
October 13, 2001 Bud (Jack Tone) hosted another wildly successful Handball Tournament, with a beautiful BBQ & horse show for the players at Jack Tone Ranch. Handball is one of Bud's loves in life, and a great time is shared by all who join him in his annual tourney & awards banquet.
October 2001 Some very sad news. We laid to rest two of our best, most-loved elderly Fadjur horses this month: Super Fad and Fadjurska. These awesome horses were among our greatest ever, both as individuals of extreme beauty and as superior contributors to the excellence of their breed. They are missed, but we're very proud of their contributions. Their descendants are carrying on proudly in breeding programs here at Jack Tone Ranch and around the world.
October 5, 6 & 7 2001 We had another wonderful Ron McLoughlin Horse Handling Clinic! Ron's focus this time was on understanding the Classical systems of training and riding, and on "lightness." Very timely & relevant topics for all horsemen, but especially for those of us blessed with intelligent and sensitive and giving Fadjur horses. See more details about Ron & his clinics at Ron's page here at the virtual Jack Tone Ranch. We're working on our schedule for 2002, will post the dates here when we've firmed them up! Tentatively, the last weekend of March, first weekend of October, and some time in May.
September 5, 2001 Sixty-ninth Wedding Anniversary Marjory & Jack Tone celebrated the 69th Anniversary of their Marriage on September 5, 2001. Three generations of Tones celebrated the occasion together at a family gathering in the home of Patricia Tone Gilbreath and her family.
John H. (Jack) Tone is a 3rd generation farmer, inheriting Jack Tone Ranch from his father & his grandfather, who came west with the Audobon Party in 1849. He formulated a plan in 1934 during the Great Depression which united his family and gave them hope that saving the home ranch was possible. His new bride, father & two brothers worked long hours, days & years to accomplish their goal. Jack Tone (the only family member of his generation to love farming) continues his life's loves of farming (& Marge) to this day -- advising, over-seeing and, "fertilizing the fields with his shadow."
Marjory F. Tone is a world-renowned breeder of Arabian horses and continues to advise, oversee and participate in the breeding and foaling of her World famous Fadjur line of horses.
Toegether, Jack & Marge Tone have made Jack Tone Ranch the oldest horse breeding ranch in California continuously operated by the same family.
Marge & Jack Tone met at a baseball game in Stockton, where Marge's brothers made up one team. Jack was the pitcher on his team and Marge was the umpire. They were married shortly thereafter at St. Michael's Church in Stockton, September 5, 1932. The Tones have a family of 5 daughters, 15 grand-children, 20 great-grand-children and 1 great-great-grand-child.
August & September 2001 Grace & Tricia Pope and Fadjurs Dancer (Fadjur x Fadjurs Glory--by Fadjur) participated in their FIRST and SECOND horse shows! Both leadline riders and their trusty mount performed flawlessly! Did I mention this was all three of their FIRST and SECOND horse show? We're awfully proud of them, and the beautiful blue ribbons and trophy/toys they won.
August 2001Several equine photo sessions were held at Jack Tone Ranch -- watch for some new pictures here at the virtual Jack Tone Ranch soon! Also, several beautiful Fadjur-bred horses found loving new owners this month.
July 2001Equestrian Mimes Clinic with Andre Bourlet! Andre has invented a method of describing, understanding (and teaching) how horses move, by teaching the riders to mimick the horse's movements on the ground. Andre is a beautiful rider, and we've already successfully implemented some of what we've learned from him.
June 2001Kathleeen, Peggy, Alex and our good friend Nancy all returned safely from "down under," where Kathleen judged the Australian Arabian horse show near Brisbane. What a great trip! They're all recovering nicely from the jet lag (they got home before they left!). The rest of us are enjoying all the stories of beautiful Arabian horses in Australia and wearing our new Kangaroo & Koala clothes proudly.
June 2001Fadjurs Deneb (Litigator+++ x Fadjurs Sarah) foaled a perfectly beautiful, typey, and BIG bay filly by Echstrordinary (Echo Magnificoo x Bey Teyna) for her lessors, Ralph Sessa & Cory Soltau of Blackhawk Valley Arabians (breeders of National Champion Mares, Bey Teyna & Shahteyna). This is a really special filly, and we hope she lives up to the legacy of her National Champion grand-dam and all of the superior horses in her pedigree! (photos coming soon to the Foals of 2001 page)
June 2001 Sunday, June 3, 2001 we convened our 46th Annual Jack Tone RanchHorse Management Seminar & Open Barn. A good time was had by all! Lots of beautiful horses were shown, along with demonstrations on "Lightness & Sensitivity in Riding Your Horse" by Cecil Rendon; "Reproductive & other Veterinary Tips and Techniques" by Dr. Alan Goldhahn, DVM; "Tone-Style Horsemanship" demonstration by Kathleen Tone Hammer; "Fun with Pedigrees" by Marjory Hammer Pope; and the ever-favorite Parade of Champions, featuring the magnificently fabulous Fadjur descendants bred by the Jack Tone Ranch. Every year, we wonder, "Can the people be any nicer?" and we enjoy showing off our horses for a great group of new & old friends.
May 2001 Fadjurs Si-Si (Fadjur x Saki) produced a WONDERFUL, beautiful, athletic & sweet black-grey colt by Fadjurs Prize! He's a really special one, and we look forward to great things from him. He'll be available for purchase for $7,500 while at his dam's side. (you can see him on the Foals of 2001 page)
May 2001 Fadjurz Valiant (Fadjurs Prize x Fadjurs Joyous) debuted with Margie at the Diablo Arabian Horse Assoc. show in Vallejo in the Sport Horse class (we missed the breeding halter class, oops). Valiant looked great, but both Margie & Valiant got a little too excited, and messed up their performance! It was lots of fun anyway, and we were proud of Valiant's first time away from home as a mature stallion (his first horse show was at age 4 mos, when he won his yearling & under colts and Most Classic classes).
April 2001 Fadjurz Trali (Fadjurs Prize x Frolik) foaled a wonderful grey filly (with a little butterfly star on her forehead) by BB Thee Renegade (Thee Desperado x PH Safina) for her lessors, the Metz family of Florida! Fadjurz Trali was about 2 weeks late with this foal, but she is most certainly worth the wait! (you can see her on the Foals of 2001 page)
April 2001 Finally (after a year of carrying this foal), Fadjurs Allure (Fadjur x La Fana) had a beautiful grey filly by Ravvens Jafar (Ravven x BA Duet) for lessors, Bill Chaney & Kevin Mansfield. Congratulations Bill & Kevin on a beautiful, super-athletic filly and a very successful breeding cross. (you can see her on the Foals of 2001 page)
March 2001 St. Patrick's Day was especially fun & festive this year, as we celebrated little Patricia Francis' 5th birthday! Tricia is a 6th generation Tone, great-grand-daughter of Marge & Jack Tone, grand-daughter of Jerry & Kathleen Hammer, and daughter of Margie & Bill Pope (there's a human pedigree for you!).
February 2001 The Leimkuehler's colt, Alada Fad n Fame (Alada Baskin x Fadjurska PF) won a Top 5 with Barry in the AOTR breeding colts class, and a Top 20 (made the first cut) in the Open class! YAY Leimkuehlers and YAY Alada Fad n Fame!!!
January 2001 Our 2001 clinic schedule for 3-day Ron McLoughlin Horse Handling Clinics at the historic and beautiful Jack Tone Ranch will be: March 30 - April 1, June 8 - 10, and October 5 - 7. Ron's clinics are an amazing value for your equine entertainment dollar -- compare the expense of $325 to a horse show event, then add the FUN and education . . . it's a really great way to spend an enjoyable weekend with your horse, meet new friends, and learn some great horsemanship. Ron also plans to host several free seminars this year to introduce horsemen to his logical & humane training system. Times and Locations to be announced.
December 2000 The Tone, Hammer (Hammer, Pope, & Morrissey), McCreery, Gilbreath (& Behlen) families all gathered at the Tone family home at Jack Tone Ranch for a relaxing & enjoyable Christmas Day 2000.
December 2000 We had some BIG excitement, and a tremendous opportunity, thanks to the widespread fame & appreciation for Marge Tone and the Fabulous Fadjur! In mid-December, a few days before their final regular-season football game, the San Francisco 49ers professional football team's representative called Kathleen in search of a beautiful white fairy-tale horse. Laurie knew the Jack Tone Ranch was the place to call for the most beautiful horse available, and she came to the right place! The 49ers planned a very special farewell for Jerry Rice -- the greatest football player of all time -- for his final game as a 49er. Jerry had dreamed of a grand farewell to his adoring fans on a beautiful white fairy-tale Arabian horse. Kathleen and Patrick groomed and prepared Pat's mare, Bint Frolik (Fadjur x Frolik) for the big event. Jerry's dream didn't come true, as the 49ers management decided it was too risky -- but Margie, Bill, Peggy & Steve are grateful to the 49ers and Jerry Rice for the enjoyment, fun and excitement we had as guests of the 49ers organization for Jerry's special day.
November 2000 Our great friends Becky & Barry Leimkuehler's colt, Alada Fad n Fame (Alada Baskin x Fadjurska PF) entered his first show at Scottsdale, Arizona and came home winning every class enterted -- including the Junior Championship! Watch for this one, he's as great a show horse as his owners are good people. The Leimkuehlers leased Fadjurska PF (Fame VF x Fadjurs Beauty -> double Fadjur x Saki) from us last year to produce this wonderful colt, and now she's home with them, establishing her new career as a foundation broodmare.
November 2000 The Tone family had a great Thanksgiving together at Jack Tone Ranch. Once again, the Tone, Hammer, McCreery and Gilbreath families spent a great day together in harmony, thanking God for each other and our wonderful lives.
October 2000 Bud's annual handball tournament was a great success once again! The colts, stallions, golden stallions and super golden stallions (champions in their age groups) reigned triumphantly over a great party, with steaks BBQ'd by Jerry Hammer & Bill Pope, music by Cecil and friends, and great camaradery.
October 2000 Our final great Ron McLoughlin Horse Handling Clinic for Y2K convened Oct 6 - 8. Kathleen & Margie participated with Fadjurs Prize and Fadjurz Victor, and worked very hard to improve their riding skills, particularly focusing on a "deep seat." It was great to see our good friend Dominique Freeman with her new endurance horse and her friend Scott riding the beautiful Jayare (Sa-Fadjur grandson). Dom even let Margie ride Jur Prize (Fadjurs Prize x Frolik) for some great times.
December 2000 Deem & Deem Marketing have prepared some beautiful gift ideas for you with the Fabulous Fadjurs Notecards. We're very excited about these, and hope you'll like them too. September 2000 Marge had a scary setback with her heart, but she's doing GREAT again now. Please include our beloved inspiration, Marjory F. Tone in your prayers, for her continued good health and increasing strength and vibrancy.
September 2000 Great Tone family times in September, with Marge & Jack Tone's 68th anniversary and a wonderful dinner in Jackson, California at Buscaglia's Italian restaurant. A nice crew of Tone family members celebrated together for a great evening -- the Tones, Hammers, Gilbreaths, McCreerys, Behlens, Popes, Morrisseys and Gibbons.
August 2000 Deem & Deem Marketing have prepared some beautiful gift ideas for you with the Fabulous Fadjurs Notecards. We're very excited about these, and hope you'll like them too. August 2000 Margie just won another photo contest! It's one of brother Robert Hammer & the magnificent Fadjurs Prize -- a silhouette shot taken at sunset on the Jack Tone Ranch.
August 2000 Coming soon to Hammertime Arena (October 6 - 8) at the beautiful and historic Jack Tone Ranch will be another great Ron McLoughlin Horse Handling clinic. These 3-day learning events are equipoised examples of fun, education, challenges and the rewards of spending lots of quality time with your horse and the camaraderie of making new friends. Give us a call or e-mail for further info and to sign up to join us.
August 2000 "FAMILY" is very important to us here at the Jack Tone Ranch. The Tone Family of people is intertwined inseparably with the Fabulous Fadjur's family of Arabian horses. It has been web-mistress policy up to this time to avoid publishing family photos of the children, (due to the dangers of the internet).....but I have re-evaluated that policy and decided they're too important to the Jack Tone Ranch & the Tone family to keep off Fadjur.com. So....drum roll please....I hope you enjoy a new section of Fadjur.com, which is an introduction to the family & personalities of the Jack Tone Ranch -- the people behind the horses.
July 2000 We have some extremely sad news to report: we lost our dear and beautiful Frolik (Fadjur x Saki) at the age of 29 years young. Frolik was special from the moment she was born, and honored us with her regal presence, charisma, power and amazingly beautiful and pure Arabian type. She passed on her extreme beauty, special personality, character and charisma to all of her foals. Frolik was Marge Tone's favorite "grey" mare (Marge had to specify color so Fadjurs Hana didn't get sad). We are very proud and honored to have her look-alike daughter Fadjurz Trali (by Fadjurs Prize) and her classic son Fadjurs Diego (by Fadjur) to carry on Frolik's uniquely spectacular beauty to future generations.
July 2000 Coming soon to Hammertime Arena (July 28 - 30) at the beautiful and historic Jack Tone Ranch will be another great Ron McLoughlin Horse Handling clinic. These 3-day learning events are equipoised examples of fun, education, challenges and the rewards of spending lots of quality time with your horse and the camaraderie of making new friends. Give us a call or e-mail for further info and to sign up to join us. And in case you can't join us this time, mark your calendars for October 6 - 8 for your next opportunity.
July 2000 Marge & Jack Tone are doing just great, and yesterday spent an hour or two driving their new golf cart around the Jack Tone Ranch and Bud's farm fields. When they arrived back at the house, they both were a little warm (temps in the low 90's) but they were wearing big smiles and had an air of exhilaration about them! It's great to see them both doing so well, and we all thank our friends out there in this big, wide WWW for your support through our rough times this year. July 2000 July started with a bang, as the Pope & Morrissey families partook of the "Ooh Aah Festival" at Lodi Lake. It was great fun for families and an opportunity to teach them about the history of Declaration of Independence and why we celebrate our American heritage. Margie, Grace and Tricia were even quoted in the Lodi News-Sentinel! June 2000 Fadjurs Beauty (Fadjur x Fadjurska -- Fadjur x Saki) and Fadjurs Prize (Fadjur x Marjianazemtu -- Fadjur x Suranazem) did it again! Wow, they are AWESOME producers! and ever so reliable . . . This new bay quadruple Fadjur grand-daughter is not just extremely beautiful; she's also special because of the circumstances of her birth. It was an exciting day at Jack Tone Ranch, to say the least. Kathleen Tone Hammer wrote up a little Kathleen Tone Hammer's story about the events surrounding the birth of Fadjurs Beauty's 2000 filly by Fadjurs Prize, including all the Hammer grandchildren and Marjory F. Tone herself. If you care to read more. Imagine a super hero's voice saying: "Tone Family, to the rescue!" She was 11 months of pregnancy on 7/11, but is 22 years old. Has always given us plenty of foaling signs as far as wax and milk. I called Doc Peterson, in Idaho & he told me how to treat her. -- She came out of it and was calmly grazing all night, after her pain medicine took effect. -- I had her in the foaling stall earlier, so we could watch her with the observation camera, but it was too hot in there, and she kept throwing herself against the walls. I was afraid she would get cast, and she was starting to sweat too much. -- She was calmer out in her field. When I checked her last, this morning she was standing quietly in a corner, then later I saw her wander over to the manger and eat some hay. That was about 7:30 A.M. -- I have a bad habit of not getting dressed in the morning until Leticia gets here to take over with the kids, and even then most of the time I do house work, or computer things before I get dressed. You would think I would learn........After all the times I get an urgent or emergency call to have to leave the house, or someone coming here to talk..........I will try to change that habit.......... Anyway, Alex and I were folding, addressing and stapling Ron
McLoughlin clinic notices, when my phone rings. -- It is Marge and she
just says, "Tis, the mare is foaling!" . -- I yelled to the kids to come quick the mare is foaling. -- You know how it usually is to get them away from the cartoons in the morning!!! I grabbed some dirty clothes out of the laundry basket and got dressed, and picked up sleeping Sydney and her baabaa and by the time I got the keys, all the other kids were in route or in the car. Little Tricia had even grabbed her and Gracie's suitcases on the way out. Even Casper was a good girl and got right in the car this time without begging her. -- I asked Alex to quick run find Hector and have him come help me with the mare foaling. -- By the time we got over to Marge's driveway, I could see her in the corral with Beauty. I could see Beauty was pushing hard, and Marge was just a few steps behind her with her arms stretched down. I was so afraid she would pull on the foal, and start herself into a heart attack. -- I started honking the horn so she would know I was that close, and not pull, but then I had to take my eyes off her to park the car, turn it off, and tell the kids to keep an eye on Sydney til Marge could get there. -- I went in and Marge had already taken the sack off the baby's nose, and had ahold of the feet. -- I was able to get her to go back outside the pasture to watch Sydney for me. -- Little Sydney got out of the car, and sat there with her baabaa hanging from her teeth, good as she could be, and watched all the goings on. -- Of course Tricia was running back and forth with me to get the iodine, shots, etc. -- After the foal was already just here, I saw Alex's long legs run by the walker, still looking for Hector! I am sure lucky he was there to go find him for me. If Beauty had needed more strength than I had, Hector would have gotten there just in time. -- Once it was past the head and shoulders, it kept coming a little bit at a time, with all my weight/strength helping her. -- It is a huge, beautiful bay filly, a big dot of a star and two hind socks. She is a Big and fat, totally in control one! Up, by herself within about 15 minutes, nursed by herself within the hour, Beauty cleaned within 2 hours, and they are doing beautiful. Beauty grazing just like nothing ever happened! Marge said she was eating breakfast, and all of a sudden got her old instinct/premonition feeling about the mare, and left her breakfast to go check on her and found her down foaling!!!!!!! She went back in the house, called me, then went back out to help the mare and foal!!!!! 85+ years old, 3 months out from a congestive heart failure, and open heart surgery!!!!!! I think we should have a contest to name this one. (But you know, I am the judge<);) <''''>!! , just kidding, we will have a family vote) My suggestions are: Fadjurz MFT -- Fadjurz MF Tone -- Fadjurz Marjory -- MFTones Fadjurz -- Fadjurz Margie -- MFT Fadjurz -- MFT Fadzjura -- MFT Bint Fadjurz Beauty -- MFTonez Fadjura -- MFTonez Bint Fadjurs Beauty (I know some of these are too long, but just to give someone else some ideas!!) July 2000 Coming soon to Hammertime Arena (July 28 - 30) at the beautiful and historic Jack Tone Ranch will be another great Ron McLoughlin Horse Handling clinic. These 3-day learning events are equipoised examples of fun, education, challenges and the rewards of spending lots of quality time with your horse and the camaraderie of making new friends. Give us a call or e-mail for further info and to sign up to join us.
Please join us Sunday June 4, 2000 at Jack Tone Ranch for our 45th Annual Horse Management Course and Open Barn! We're planning a relaxed & fun day of horsemanship, education, and of course -- the Parade of Champions -- featuring many of our favorite line-bred descendants of the Fabulous Fadjur. May 2000 Three more fabulous Fadjur-bred foals were born at Jack Tone Ranch in May! They're the first-born sons of two of our favorite Fadjurs Prize daughters, Fadjurz Joi (x Fadjurs Joi) and Fadjurz Eleganz (x Fadjurs Beauty) and another fabulous filly from Fadjurs Lady Anne (Fadjur x Fadjurs Hana). Fadjurz Joi's colt (by Jullyen El Jamaal) is exquisitely refined with a tremendous long hip and extreme quality. Fadjurz Eleganz' colt (by First Cyte) is a 'big bruiser' with incredibly great bone, size, type and a wonderfully sweet and fun-loving disposition. Fadjurs Lady Anne's filly (by NV Elite) is a big, beautiful almost solid bay -- she's going to be a blood bay, like her dam & Fadjur! She has an extremely beautiful head, and Kathleen thinks she looks just like Lady Anne. May 2000 Marjory F. Tone, our loving mother, grandmother, and
great-grandmother is making a picture-perfect recovery from open heart surgery!
Thank you to God, and thanks to all of you who have prayed for her and helped us
in every way. April 2000 The really, really great news is that Marge came home from the
hospital yesterday and she's doing great! Bud is home too, after being kept
overnight as well. Thank you for all of your prayers and good wishes, they mean
a lot to us and have been tremendously appreciated! <April 2000 We have two incredibly beautiful new Arabian foals of extreme type!! Fadjurz Ibna (Fadjurs Prize x Ibna -- Ibn Fadjur x Fer-Natta) produced an exquisite bay filly by NV Elite for us. This one is very refined and
especially feminine, combining the best of both lines with the powerful and
unmistakeable stamp of "FADJUR." And Fadjurska PF (Fame VF x Fadjurs
Beauty -- Fadjur x Fadjurska by Fadjur x Saki) produced the BIGGEST and one of
the nicest colts around! He's sired by Alada Baskin, and has the longest neck
I've ever seen on any foal combined with FADJUR type, athletic ability and
extreme quality. The Leimkuehlers were made proud once more with the production
of their leased mare from Jack Tone Ranch. Congratulations Becky, Barry &
Kids!!
April 2000 Our March 31 - April 2 clinic with Ron McLoughlin was wonderful as always
. . . It was difficult to watch without riding, though! (because of worries with
Marge and new foals coming along, Kathleen, Margie & Peggy were not able to
participate) Our wonderful regular riders were joined by some extra-neat new
ones, and we hope to join you next time in July! We'll look forward to seeing
and riding with you then. April 2000 Fadjurs Prize joins Super Fad as an IAHA Breeder's
Sweepstakes Nominated sire. And now
Fadjurs Prize has an album of his own here at the virtual Jack Tone
Ranch! February 2000 Margie & Peggy were overwhelmed (in a good way) at
Scottsdale 2000 by the sheer numbers of people and their outpourings of
appreciation for the Fabulous Fadjur horses! We met *SO* many
wonderful owners of Fadjur horses; *SO* many wonderful people new to the
Arabian breed who were amazed to see such horses as ours; and *SO* many
wonderful people who remembered Fadjur or a special descendant & are newly
excited to bring Fadjur's influence back into their breeding, show-horse and
performance horses!! February 2000 Congratulations to the Leimkuehler family on the birth of a
VERY special filly: First Cyte x Fadjurz Elite. This extemely
typey bay filly is truly exceptional! Becky leased Fadjurz Elite (Fadjurs Prize
x Fadjurs Beauty) from us and bred her to 1999 Scottsdale & Canadian
National Champion Stallion for one of his first foals. Watch for this special
filly in future show-rings . . . February 2000 Our special Winter Clinic with Ron McLoughlin Feb 9 - 13 was
just exactly the fabulous learning experience we expected. Limited to 10 riders,
it was an intensive learning experience. Great emphasis was placed upon the
riders' seats and gentle influence upon their horses. We've had a lot of
interest and we're looking forward to a big (open to 35 riders) clinic with Ron
March 31 - April 2. Sign up soon! We'll look forward to seeing and riding
with you then. December 1999 Get a closer look at Margie's "Fabulous Fadjurs" notecards at Deem and Deem's website. They're available
via e-commerce on-line at the Deem's. Margie's photograph of Sa-Fadjur (below)
is one of the 10 images available on these incredibly beautiful notecards. Announcing the birth of Hana Hammer!! Tasha and Robert (5th
generation) are very proud parents of beautiful little Hana. She's a beautiful
combination of her parents and the whole family is excited to have another
little horse-girl. December 1999 Christmas 1999 was the usual, wonderful Tone family celebration
as well. Piles of presents for everyone; food, fun and visiting. October 1999 We hosted an Equipoize clinic with Monica Sellers in November
1999 and will be hosting several clinics with her in 2000. We're excited about
Monica's horsemanship skill and great ability as a teacher and hope to host many
more clinics and lessons with Monica in the coming years. Y2K Schedule coming
soon. October 1999 Some very sad news: we lost our great horse and family member Sa-Fadjur+\ last Fall (1999). He was
31 years old and as statuesque and beautiful as ever at his passing. Sa-Fadjur+\
was an inspiration to breeders worldwide and is missed at Jack Tone Ranch. October 1999 Check out the October 1999 Arabian Horse Times feature,
"Marge Tone and Fadjur: Keepers of the Breed." Faye Ahneman-Rudskenske is
a magician, with her great talent for putting "feelings" into words. September 1999 Arabian Horse World featured TW Forteyna in September '99 -- we
hope you liked our ad congratulating this great mare and her wonderful owners,
Ralph Sessa and Cory Soltau of Blackhawk Valley Arabians -- we're so proud of
her Fadjur influence, and the mark she has made upon Arabian
breeding!
